Maniac Mondays on Tuesday

Well hello there! It has been 11 days since my last update. I can’t say I haven’t wanted to write, because I have. I just haven’t had the time. The time to actually sit and digest what has become of my home life. Everything outside of where I live has come together, yet my apartment, doesn’t feel quite like home. I am not satisfied with were we live, I wouldn’t want to entertain people here. I actually wouldn’t be able to entertain people here. As of two weeks ago, I found that we had fleas. We don’t own any pets so you can imagine my surprise. So, as of now the exterminator has come, to no avail of my landlord ( who is known as the slumlord) around the building. He ONLY cares about getting rent, as far as fixing things he is slow if not non-existent to getting things done in a timely manner. So, we are moving  at the end of this quarter. My Christmas gift to Orion and myself is a HOME! A 2 bedroom house with a washer and dryer, hardwood floors, fireplace, deck or yard, and convenient parking. Here are some inspiring and aspiring photos.

Time to Envision and Manifest.

Maniac Monday Madness

I awoke late today, actually with 10 minutes to be out the door and off to take my son to childcare. My son, Orion is the love of my life. So, you can imagine I had no time to do my hair, dress chic or put on make-up. Yet, somehow I managed to look cute, at least that is the response I got from most people. Could it have been my uber cute pink and white polka-dotted rainboots? or my bed head, side swept mohawk? Either way on the ride down to drop Orion off, he managed to stain my shirt with blueberries, luckily I was wearing a enormous scarf, which even wrapped three times, left enough room for me to drape it cowl like and cover my stain.
The day consisted of school until 12noon, lunch of leftover spaghetti and faux-meatballs and an apple, eaten all while researching my new hobby–blogging.  The rest of the day was spent running errands. I’ll tell you what; there are an immense amount of fashion blogs out there, yet some have mastered the technique of great blogging. I know exactly what I need to do in order to make mine followed, fantastic, and fun, which I wont say. You just have to stay tuned to the Luxurious Latoya. Until I get my camera fixed or obtain a new one. I will leave you with inspiring photos taken with my iPhone.

what’s for dinner

Usually I am extremely creative when it comes to dinner. But tonight my son is in the mood for pancakes. It was actually my idea after reading him–Curious george makes Pancakes. It seemed that we hadn’t had our weekly dose of pancakes and after the rough week I have had, this meal seems to take precedent over any of my other elaborate meal plans. The recipe I use for pancakes is as follows:

  1. Buy Kodiak flapjack mix. (the best! worth the price tag)
  2. Mix with cheaper pancake mix, we use Krusteaz. Equal proportions 1/2c each for 6 flapjacks.
  3. Stir in water 1/2 c. to 3/4 c. (depending on how thick you want your flapjacks.)
  4. Heat griddle with organic butter on medium-low heat
  5. Test to see if griddle is ready by dropping water on griddle, if water beads off, it is ready
  6. Pour about 1 1/2 tbsp of batter on griddle
  7. Add fruit , we like to use blueberries or bananas.
  8. When batter starts to bubble, flip.
  9. Cook for another 2 minutes, remove and set on plate.
  10. Repeat steps 6-9 until all batter is cooked.

Tonight we will have scrambled eggs and turkey bacon to compliment our meal. Pictures to come soon.

Blogging

Okay. So today is the start of my blog. I have spent relentless, countless hours researching blogs that I am fond of. I am extremely excited as well as nervous about this whole process. I have tried over the last six months to express my ideas via blogging and now I have learned how to. I have found great inspiration from cupcakesandcashmere blogger Emily.  I have always wanted a camera crew to follow me around and have a day in the life of Latoya. So, being that I have been living a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget for the past ten years, I can not afford to hire a camera crew. So, I have taken on the task myself. I have heard over the years that if you want something done right, it’s better to do it yourself. So though this blog I will unfold the lustrous  life of me. I am known as a fashion designer, yet I am finding that I have talents beyond fashion that also deserve to be documented and accredited. I am allowing for this blog to flow freely and not stifle my creative process. Today was spent solely on research for the luxurious latoya.
